Variety description

The variety forms a loose, open rosette of leaves, which upon maturity forms a head resembling a flower in shape. Leaves are broad, rounded, cream-white or light green in color with characteristic wine-red or purple spots. The minimum diameter of the head is about 15 cm, minimum weight is from 100 g.

The variety belongs to the late maturity group with a period from sowing to technical maturity of about 80–110 days. The plant is undemanding, moderately tolerant to frosts, with exposure to cold contributing to an increase in the intensity of leaf coloration. Blanching is used to obtain lighter and more tender inner leaves.

The leaves have a tender and crunchy texture. The taste is described as delicate, slightly bitter, softer and sweeter compared to other radicchio varieties. The crop is used for fresh consumption and for decorative purposes.
