The Virtus F1 variety belongs to the group of leafy or Italian chicory that forms heads directly in the field, unlike forcing varieties of the Witloof type. The maturity period of the hybrid is about 60 days.

The plant forms dense elongated heads about 20–25 cm in size. The leaves are pale green on the outside, the inside of the head is colored yellowish-white; the leaf surface can be curled. The produce is characterized by a crunchy texture, a sweetish taste with a mild bitterness, and good uniformity.

The variety is intended for fresh consumption and use in salad mixes. The dense structure of the heads ensures good keeping quality of the harvest.
