The variety is a spontaneous mutation of the Fina clementine variety. It received its name due to the bright orange color of the fruit peel, which resembles the color of certain tomatoes. Trees are characterized by productivity without pronounced alternate bearing and are also used in breeding programs to develop triploid hybrids.

The fruits of the variety have a flattened shape and sweet flesh with a low acid content. The plant is of an early or mid-early maturity group and is intended for fresh consumption. Due to the ability to form a compact crown, the variety is also grown as an ornamental fruit plant in containers.
