The variety is widespread in the coastal regions of Montenegro and Croatia. The term Mjesečar translates as "sleepwalker" and is often used in regional literature to designate remontant lemons capable of fruiting in different phases of the year, similar to the Lunario variety.

During biological studies of the variety, variability in pollen fertility was observed. During vegetative propagation, this lemon variety demonstrates lower cutting rooting rates compared to the Meyer variety.

The variety is a local fruit crop, although in professional circles the term may be used as a general designation for the type of remontancy, which requires clarification when identifying a specific plant.
