Variety description

The variety belongs to the early-flowering large-flowered clematis group (Patens Group). The plant reaches a height of 2 meters, although dimensions may be more compact in container cultivation. Flowers are large, 10–12 cm in diameter, consisting of 6–8 wide-open violet sepals with a darker purple border.

Flowering occurs in two waves: in May–June on previous year's shoots and in July–August on current year's shoots. The variety is winter hardy (hardiness zone 6) and requires light pruning after flowering is completed.
