The variety was developed as a result of crossing the variety Tonda Gentile delle Langhe and the hybrid sample OSU 23.024. The trees are characterized as compact, accounting for about 75–85% of the dimensions of the Barcelona variety.
The nuts ripen earlier than those of the Barcelona variety. The nuts and kernels are smaller in size, have a distinct aroma and a crunchy texture. The variety is characterized by a high percentage of kernel yield, a low number of defects, and good blanching suitability.
The variety is susceptible to eastern filbert blight caused by the fungus Anisogramma anomala. It is intended primarily for use in confectionery production.
