The variety is a low-vigor shrub suitable for small gardens. The nuts are characterized by good quality, however the variety is not self-husking, which requires manual processing to separate the nut from the involucre.
The plant has been used in research on resistance to Eastern filbert blight. It is an old variety cultivated in European collections, and requires cross-pollination with other varieties to obtain a stable yield.
