The fruits are predominantly slightly elongated or nearly spherical; the surface is ribbed, dark green on a netted background with characteristic protuberances. The dense orange flesh is characterized by juiciness, aroma, and high sugar content, and may sometimes have a fibrous texture.
The plant is mid-early and distinguished by high hardiness, which allows it to be grown in temperate climate conditions. The variety is of interest for breeding as a genetic ancestor of modern melon types, such as Charentais, however, it is rarely used in commercial production.
