Traditional types of melons from Villaconejos are classified as Cucumis melo L. of the Inodorus group. They are distinguished by a long vegetation period and are a valuable genetic resource preserved in scientific collections for breeding programs.
The fruits of the studied samples possess pronounced taste qualities, including high sugar content and juiciness, as well as an increased content of vitamin C and beta-carotene. The average weight of the fruits of some samples is about 2.3 kg.
