The variety belongs to the group of quince with apple-shaped fruits (maliformi). In variety examination guidelines, such as UPOV, "Mollesca" is used as a reference variety when describing morphological traits of the plant, in particular its vigor.

The variety is included in a number of international genetic resource collections. In a study conducted in the Netherlands, it was noted that young trees of the variety show sensitivity to severe winter frosts, up to plant death.
