The variety was obtained as a result of the selection of local chufa clones. During its development, morphological, agronomic, and molecular-genetic analysis methods were applied, which made it possible to fix stable tuber characteristics such as shape, size, and number of nodes.

The plant is adapted to the conditions of the Mediterranean region of Spain. The study of the variety covered issues of reaction to irrigation methods, fertilization, and the use of herbicides, while the productivity and quality parameters of the raw material comply with international standards.

The variety is intended for food use, in particular for the production of the traditional beverage horchata, as well as for fresh consumption. This variety belongs to the category of rare and specialized agricultural crops.
