The Napier variety is classified as an early-maturing representative of the species. The plant possesses a rapid growth rate and the ability for intensive regrowth with a sufficient level of moisture. It is a traditional variety well-adapted to conditions with annual precipitation of more than 500 mm and a growing season of 120 days or more.
The primary agricultural use of the variety is in forage production. The crop is valued for its high palatability during early vegetation phases, which is why the variety was widely used in pasture and hayfield mixtures with legumes and other grasses.
