The BARLO variety is a garden carnation, also known under the trade name Nora. The plant belongs to the standard type, intended for producing one large flower per stem. The flowers are fully double, have a pale purple-pink color, corresponding to code 55D in the international register, and the petal edges are distinguished by the presence of very small serrations.

The variety has a genetic variant BARLO II, which arose as a result of a mutation and is distinguished by a lighter salmon-pink color and increased resistance of the calyx to cracking. In scientific literature, the variety is often mentioned in studies devoted to biotechnologies, in particular, issues of in vitro plant regeneration and the study of resistance to Fusarium oxysporum.
