Inflorescences are large, pompon-shaped; the center may lighten with age. Leaves are dark green, ovate or lanceolate, with a serrated edge and pubescence of short stiff hairs. The plant forms dense upright bushes on sturdy, well-branched stems.

Flowering continues from July to September. The variety is winter hardy, requires drained fertile soils, and tolerates waterlogging poorly. Used in landscape design for group and specimen plantings, suitable for cutting.
