The variety is a diploid and is characterized as mid-season. The plant is tall, erect, with broad, short rosette leaves of a dark green color. The stem is sparsely pubescent and has a reddish-violet (anthocyanin) coloration. The taproot of the plant is not thickened and has a strong pungent taste.

In the year of sowing, the variety rarely forms inflorescences. Studies of seed sowing qualities show that fractions sized 1.5–1.7 mm possess higher germination energy and germination rate. The variety is valued for its content of biologically active substances and is used as raw material for the pharmaceutical industry.
