The variety is a low, dense, spreading shrub that branches well and reaches a height of 30–50 cm. The leathery, broad-ovate leaves have a bright yellow center and a dark green margin, and during the autumn-winter period, the yellow areas can acquire pink or purple shades. Young shoots are also colored bright yellow.

Flowering is insignificant, the flowers are small and greenish, and orange capsule fruits appear rarely. The variety is winter-hardy, tolerates drought after rooting, and is undemanding to soil provided there is drainage. It is used as a ground-cover or container plant; if support is provided, it can develop as a climbing species.

The plant tolerates pruning well, although it does not require mandatory shaping due to its compact form.
