The variety is late-flowering and characterized by rapid germination and the formation of a dense leaf canopy, which provides soil protection from erosion and suppresses weeds. The root system of the plant is fibrous, penetrating the soil to a depth of up to 30 cm.
The plant contains biologically active compounds that provide bitterness and protect young seedlings from being eaten by animals. The thousand kernel weight is 12–15 g. The variety is sensitive to frost and dies at temperatures close to 0°C, which facilitates its use in crop rotation.
The primary purpose of the variety includes nitrogen retention, improvement of soil structure, and mobilization of phosphorus available for subsequent agricultural crops. The plant is neutral in relation to diseases of major crops.
