The variety is a specialized form for agricultural use as a green manure or cover crop. The plant is capable of rapid development and effective weed suppression, possesses dense leaf mass and a fibrous root system penetrating to a depth of 30 cm. It contains bitters that provide protection against wild animals.
The plant belongs to extremely late-flowering forms, which minimizes the risk of uncontrolled self-seeding. It does not possess winter hardiness and dies at sub-zero temperatures. The thousand kernel weight is 12–15 g. It promotes phosphorus mobilization in the soil, while excessive nitrogen fertilization can induce lodging.
When grown as an intermediate crop, sowing is recommended from the beginning of July to mid-August with a seeding rate of 40–60 kg/ha and a sowing depth of 3 cm.
