Variety description

The plant forms a dense bush with dark green lanceolate leaves. The stems have an elegant arching habit, drooping under the weight of the foliage; some descriptions note a reddish tint to the stems.
The variety is winter hardy and prefers partial shade. In direct sunlight during hot weather, the leaves may curl to protect against moisture loss. The bamboo does not form creeping rhizomes and does not require growth barriers.
It is used exclusively for decorative purposes to create hedges, "screens," or for cultivation in containers and as a specimen plant.
