The Vaira variety is a diploid variety bred by the Research Institute of Agriculture in Skrīveri (Latvia). The plant is adapted to the conditions of Latvia and the regions of Northern and Central Europe, demonstrating productivity indicators corresponding to the standards for forage varieties of meadow fescue.
The variety has passed testing for distinctness, uniformity and stability (DUS), as well as tests for value for cultivation and use (VCU). Biologically, the variety possesses characteristics typical of the species, including winter hardiness and the ability to recover after mowing and grazing.
