The Indie variety belongs to the strong creeping red fescue type and is intended for use in turf grass mixtures.
The plant is characterized by the presence of the endophytic fungus Epichloe typhina, contained in more than 90% of the seeds. The presence of the endophyte provides the variety with increased resistance to pests that feed on the above-ground parts of the plants, as well as improved tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses, including drought.
