Kalle belongs to the subspecies Festuca rubra commutata, does not form stolons and forms a dense turf. Fine leaves provide an aesthetic appearance, and the high stand density contributes to effective weed suppression and reliable rooting.
The variety possesses high resistance to certain types of rot, however, it may show sensitivity to dollar spot and Microdochium nivale. The primary purpose is for use in seed mixtures for recreational and ornamental lawns, including under low mowing conditions.
