The variety belongs to the subspecies Festuca rubra ssp. rubra. Due to the presence of rhizomes, the plant is capable of vegetative reproduction and the formation of a dense grass cover.
The plant is adapted to local climatic conditions and is capable of growing on various types of soils, including poor ones. It is used as a lawn grass, a component of grass mixtures for forage lands, and as a living mulch in the inter-rows of fruit crops.
