The variety belongs to the Chewings Fescue group and is a perennial low-growing winter or semi-winter grass. Unlike other forms of red fescue, the variety is dense-tufted and has no long rhizomes.
In UPOV documents, the variety is classified as having broad leaves. The variety is historical; its approval for use expired in 2007, and it is currently mentioned primarily as a component of old grass mixtures or in the context of archival trials.
