The variety is the result of breeding local grass populations from the Asturias region, Spain. Genetically characterized by the presence of 42 chromosomes, it is externally distinguished by its dark green color and thin leaves.
The plant is intended for turf use. It is adapted to low-maintenance conditions, including reduced requirements for irrigation, fertilizers, and mowing. The variety exhibits resistance to diseases, shade, drought, and acidic soils, but has poor tolerance to trampling.
