The Reda variety of red fescue belongs to the creeping subspecies Festuca rubra rubra. The plant is characterized by a medium-early maturity group, high winter hardiness, and disease resistance. It is capable of tolerating drought conditions and growing on moderately fertile or poor soils.
The variety possesses a developed root system that allows it to quickly fill gaps in the sward, and it forms a dense sod with high intensity of green mass production. Due to its hardiness, Reda is used as a component of pastures and hayfields on light soils, and is also included in grass mixtures for slope stabilization and landscaping.
