10 August 2026
The tree of this variety has strong growth and an open crown shape. The leaves of the plant are large, have 3 or 5 lobes with a crenate margin, and a short petiole. Fruiting occurs once a year and is parthenocarpic, not requiring the participation of pollinators.
The medium-sized fruits weighing 50–90 g have a symmetrical spherical shape with a flat top. The thick skin is colored greenish and covered with whitish lenticels; the flesh has a reddish hue and a granular texture. Harvesting occurs in the third ten-day period of August.
The fruits are distinguished by a firm skin, which easily separates from the peduncle. The variety historically formed in the Salento region, Italy, and is traditionally used for fresh consumption.
