The tree is vigorous, reaching 6–10 meters in height. The fruits are large, pear-shaped with a long curved neck; the skin color varies from violet-black to dark purple. The variety is vulnerable to drought.

The fruit pulp is soft, reddish in hue, juicy, with a jam-like texture and a pronounced berry flavor with notes of molasses or brown sugar. It contains many small seeds, and the fruit skin can be tough. The fruit ripening period falls between August and October.

The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, making jams, confectionery, and drying. The variety is traditionally cultivated in the mountainous regions of Tunisia and is not a product of modern industrial breeding.
