The variety belongs to the taxon Fragaria × vescana, obtained by crossing the garden strawberry Fragaria × ananassa and the wild strawberry Fragaria vesca using colchicine to double the chromosomes. As a result of breeding, a fertile decaploid hybrid was created.
The plants possess vigorous growth and good adaptability to various growing conditions. The berries are valued for their exceptional aroma, combining the characteristics of wild strawberry with an increased fruit size, which makes the variety a delicacy for direct sales.
Varieties of the Fragaria × vescana group, including Spadeka, have not achieved mass distribution due to specific requirements for cultivation and yield, remaining a product for connoisseurs of taste qualities.
