The variety is late-maturing, ripening 8–14 days later than the Howard 17 variety. The fruits of the variety were distinguished by excessive softness, which negatively affected their market value and suitability for commercial sale.
In comparative trials, the yield of the variety was significantly lower than that of widely grown varieties of that time. The variety was used in breeding as one of the parental forms, in particular, in crosses with the Fairfax variety to obtain new hybrids.
