The name Witte Aardbei is not an official breeding designation but is used as a commercial term for a number of white-fruited varieties derived from crossing Fragaria chiloensis and Fragaria virginiana. The plants reach a height of 20–30 cm.
The berries are white or cream-colored with pink seeds and reach 20–25 mm in diameter. The taste of the fruit is sweet with a pineapple aroma. Fruiting occurs in May–June. The crop is not self-fertile; planting pollinator plants nearby is necessary to obtain a harvest.
The plants are considered winter hardy and relatively resistant to diseases, although they have a lower yield compared to commercial red-fruited varieties. The characteristics of specific seedlings sold under this name may vary.
