The variety was bred within the framework of breeding programs for adaptation to the climatic conditions of southern Spain, in particular the Huelva region. It belongs to the historical commercial varieties that were actively used at the end of the last century.

In comparative fruit quality studies of the 1990s, the variety was characterized as having a lower intensity of aromatic compounds compared to some other varieties that were widely distributed at that time.
