The variety was identified during many years of research on the snowdrop collection at the Botanical Garden of the University of Ljubljana. The plant is intended for ornamental cultivation and is of interest to collectors.

The main morphological characteristic of the variety is the specific structure of the flower: it has nine perianth segments, which in shape resemble rounded drops.
