The «Saliut» variety is intended for use as a forage crop for green mass, silage, and hay production, and is also used as a raw material for biofuel, a honey plant, a medicinal plant, and a green manure. The plants are characterized by a high content of protein, carbohydrates, and ash elements in the aerial phytomass.

The plant is a perennial legume capable of growing in one place for 8–10 years or more. The variety demonstrates early maturity, beginning its growing season in the first ten days of May, and possesses high winter hardiness and drought tolerance.
