The plant reaches a height of 30–55 cm. It forms a dense spreading habit with dark green palmately divided foliage that remains decorative until late autumn.

Flowering occurs from July to September. The flowers have a blue-lilac or violet-blue shade with characteristic veins. The plant is hardy and capable of suppressing weeds due to its dense growth.
