The variety belongs to maturity group I and has purple flowers. Plants reach a height of 70–90 cm, and the length of the growing season is 125–135 days. The variety is the result of the reselection of the American variety Hodgson.

The protein content in the grain varies in the range from 21.97% to 35.8%, the thousand kernel weight is about 168 g. The variety was used for industrial grain production, for experimental purposes, and as a standard in variety testing.
