The plant forms a rosette of sword-shaped or ribbon-like leaves. The bright flower stalk rises about 15 cm above the leaf base. The coloration of the bracts is usually bright red, with yellow flowers. Overall dimensions of the plant reach 0.5 m in height and width depending on growing conditions.

The variety is used as an indoor potted plant. It is thermophilic, with an optimal development temperature of 18–24°C. The plant is sensitive to direct sunlight, which causes burns, and to waterlogging of the soil.
