The variety is classified as a frost-resistant crop (USDA zones 4–9) with the aerial part dying back annually for the winter. The plant is moisture-loving, tolerates short-term flooding well, and adapts to ordinary garden soil with regular watering. The flowering period is characterized by the constant emergence of new buds.
