Variety description

The plant forms well-branched upright bushes 0.8 to 1.2 m in height. The leaves are deeply dissected, dark purple, almost black-green in color. Large wine-colored flowers reach 15–18 cm in diameter.
Flowering is abundant, lasting from mid- or late August to October. The above-ground part of the plant dies back for the winter; the variety belongs to USDA hardiness zone 5. The variety shows high resistance to leaf spot, powdery mildew, and root rot.
Prefers full sun and rich moist soils, does not tolerate drought. Used in ornamental gardening as a specimen plant, for mass plantings, borders, and for growing in containers.
