The spring barley variety Applaus was obtained by crossing KWS Irina and Overture. The plant is characterized by an early maturity group and an average stem height of about 71 cm. The variety is suitable for cultivation in combination with undersown grasses.

The purpose of the variety includes use for malting. The variety possesses high and stable yields, demonstrates endurance and resistance to nematodes, as well as good general resistance to diseases.
