The barley variety Carnival belongs to spring forms. Its pedigree is based on the crossing of the varieties Trumpf and Bulbeck. The plant possesses high resistance to powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis) infection.
This variety was used in breeding as a parental form for the development of the barley variety Chariot, which was obtained by crossing the variety Dera with the hybrid of Carnival and Atem. Detailed morphological descriptions of the variety are absent in modern open-access sources.
