The variety is a hybrid of feed barley (cross code BB378), one of the parental components of which was developed in the breeding program in Ballinacurra. The purpose of the variety is classified as feed.
During studies, the variety was examined for nutrient content, acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber. Resistance of the cultivar to barley leaf stripe (Drechslera graminea) and the fungal pathogen Bipolaris sorokiniana was also recorded.
