The variety belongs to the subspecies Hordeum vulgare, subsp. distichon (L.) Koern., var. nutans. It was bred as a result of selection from line 244D-1/98, obtained in 1995.

The plant possesses high resistance to the main economically significant barley diseases. The variety is distinguished by stable characteristics and is intended for use in the malting industry.
