The variety is a spring two-row barley obtained through complex crossing of the lines Amsel, Diamant, Firlbecks-Union and Branisovicky. The crop was bred for the malting industry.
During agronomic trials, the variety demonstrated high susceptibility to powdery mildew. Due to this feature, it was frequently used in scientific research as a control sample for studying this pathogen. At present, the variety is of interest primarily for the history of plant breeding.
