The variety is a selection from a French local variety and has a genetic link to Moroccan barley varieties. The plant belongs to the six-row winter type and is distinguished by early maturity.
In agronomic studies, the variety stood out for consistently high yield indicators for its time. Chemical analysis of the grain showed one of the highest levels of beta-glucan content and acid extract viscosity among varieties cultivated in Spain in the 20th century.
This variety was widely used in agricultural practice as a forage crop and is still recognized as a significant genetic resource that served as the basis for the creation of a number of modern barley varieties.
