Variety description

A variety of Dutch origin, classified as spring barley. In the 1980s and early 1990s, the variety was widely used in breeding practices of European countries, in particular in Czechoslovakia and Poland.

In scientific research, Havila was used as a parent component in hybrid combinations to study morphological traits and malt quality. The variety was also used in genetic studies for identifying genotypes by electrophoresis and in plant physiology experiments, including the assessment of soil pH tolerance and lodging resistance.
