The variety is a mid-season winter barley, sometimes characterized as a facultative variety. It was obtained by crossing the varieties Dostoinyi and Brl-5GR.

The plant possesses resistance to lodging, high resistance to smut diseases, and moderate resistance to foliar diseases. Winter and frost hardiness are rated at 8 points.

A feed grain crop with a balanced amino acid composition. Under arid conditions, the thousand kernel weight is 35–37 g, protein content is 16.2%. Yield in trials varies from 40.4 to 55.0 c/ha.
