The barley variety Horal was developed as a result of breeding work in Czechoslovakia. Its pedigree includes the lines Sladar, Minerva, Sladar and Amsel.

This variety belongs to spring crops. At the present time, detailed agronomic characteristics, such as plant height, maturity group or disease resistance indices, are not detailed in open publications.

Horal is classified as a historical variety. It is included in plant genetic resource collections and is used in research dedicated to the history of breeding in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
