The variety was obtained by crossing the varieties KWS Cassia and Retriever. The plant has a short to medium straw length, which is characterized as less strong compared to a number of other varieties. The variety is distinguished by a high thousand kernel weight and good specific grain weight.
KWS Glacier shows resistance to barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV). At the same time, under production conditions, susceptibility to powdery mildew and rhynchosporium was noted. The variety demonstrated good yield results, especially on heavy soils.
