The variety was bred by crossing the Conchita and Quench varieties. The plant has a semi-erect habit, short or medium-length stem, and a cylindrical or spindle-shaped ear with strong waxy bloom. The caryopsis is very large; the thousand kernel weight is 45–52 g.
Malting parameters include high malt extractivity, high final attenuation, and low viscosity. Protein content ranges from 9–10% to 12.9% depending on growing conditions. The variety is characterized as mid-season and ecologically plastic.
The variety possesses resistance to lodging and moderate resistance to Ustilago hordei. Drought tolerance is rated as average. Susceptibility to leaf spots, root rots, and powdery mildew may vary depending on the testing region and infectious background.
